The advantages of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) are plentiful. As one of the cleanest fossil fuels available on the market, it possesses numerous environmental benefits, contributing positively towards climate change and pollution levels. Furui Energy fully believes in the power of LNG to create a cleaner, better future for the planet. This post will highlight how LNG is produced and why this makes it a smarter choice for industrial businesses everywhere, both in terms of its sustainability and cost-effectiveness.

At an LNG power plant, the production process begins by purifying natural gas and super-cooling it to -160 degrees Celsius. This process transforms the gas into a liquid form, which is then cooled again below its boiling point to remove any extra compounds such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen, and sulphur. The liquefied gas can then be stored and used as fuel. The liquid itself is clear and unscented, already making it a much cleaner source of energy in comparison to the likes of diesel which give off strong, smoky fumes and make up a large amount of pollution.

LNG is also commonly known for releasing noticeably less carbon dioxide into the environment, especially in comparison to coal and fuel oil. With carbon dioxide accounting for 79% of all U.S. greenhouse gas emissions from human activitiesi, it is the primary greenhouse gas released into the atmosphere by factories and power generators. If more businesses switched to using clean-burning LNG as their main energy source, these greenhouse gas emissions would see a significant decrease.

The versatility of LNG also makes it a more attractive and valuable power source, where its properties as a renewable source of energy make it easy to use as fuel for several everyday instances such as transportation, heating, and electricity generation. Overall, it has more day-to-day applications than competing fossil fuels, providing more adaptable forms of fuel which altogether result in less toxic emissions from all its outputs.

In addition to being better for the environment, LNG is also a more financially friendly option for energy companies. With LNG’s low volume in a liquefied state, it becomes easier to transport and store, resulting in lower energy costs. It can also be manufactured in large quantities, making its production and energy generation more efficient, helping to meet growing power demands.
